Bentley Offers First Look Inside Mulsanne Body Construction Process
It takes a total of 125 (!) man-hours to construct the body of the new Bentley Mulsanne. The process, which takes place at a new assembly center in Crewe, is a beautiful harmony of man and machine working together to build what's sure to be an instant classic of the luxury car market. There's an interesting contrast in the construction, too. The seamless grace of the Mulsanne's roof, rear fender, and trunk can only be achieved by hand-brazed seams down the D-pillar, while the complex curves at the car's front corners can only be created through a process of superforming, a aerospace-inspired process of heating aluminum and forcing it into a mold using high air pressure.
