Fiat to Launch US-Spec 500 With "Prima Edizione" For Fiat Fans Only

The head of Fiat North America (yes, that IS a thing again,) Laura Soave, did something quite special for the small group of loyalists still in love with the long-departed Italian brand. Soave showed up at a Fiat-Lancia club event in Asheville, NC, attended the club's closing dinner, and made a very special offer. When the 500 finally arrives late this year, a special edition will lead off the deliveries and a sign-up sheet was passed around to club members who were given the first opportunity to claim the special cars. That's pretty cool.

Just 500 examples (makes sense, no?) of the edition will be produced. They'll be called the Fiat Cinquecento Prima Edizione, though people self-conscious about their inability to speak Italian can just call it it the Fiat 500 First Edition. Each will be sequentially numbered and uniquely badged, with three colors--white, red, and gray--offered. All 500 will sport manual transmissions. While club members were given the first chance to pick colors and drop a deposit, other early adopters will soon be given the opportunity to claim the rest of the 500-unit run via a registration website, www.ciaofiat.com.
